The Technical Analyst
Learn what the technical analyst is trying to answer inside the committee workflow.
What you will learn
- Understand what the technical analyst contributes.
- Read trend, support, resistance, RSI, and relative performance in context.
- Use the technical section to frame risk and timing rather than certainty.
Core concepts
The technical analyst studies price behavior, trend structure, support and resistance, moving averages, RSI, and relative strength versus the market. The goal is not to predict every tick. The goal is to understand whether price action confirms or challenges the broader thesis.
A strong technical section can help frame risk: where momentum is improving, where the market has repeatedly reacted, or where a thesis may be invalidated. It can also flag whether a move is broad and supported or narrow and fragile.
When you read this section, ask what it says about structure, participation, and risk levels rather than whether it claims a perfect forecast.
Common mistakes
- Treating the technical section as a trading signal in isolation.
- Ignoring how technical context can support or weaken a fundamental thesis.
- Reading RSI or moving averages too mechanically.
